Tucson to New York in 4-hours-15-minutes
Jetblue launched non-stop daily direct service to JFK International Airport on September 28th making Tucson the 46th “blue city.â€
The first week of service, my husband and I flew the red eye which departed Tucson at 11:45 am and arrived in New York at 6:30 am.
Just in time for breakfast after fighting the now unfamiliar traffic on the Van Wyck Expressway.
Unlike Continental Airlines, which experimented with a route from Tucson to Newark/Liberty International Airport in the summer of 2004, Jetblue looks like they can make a go of it.Â
Jetblue reported the initial flight was booked to 85% capacity and our flight a few days later appeared to be half-full on the trip to New York and three-quarters full on the way back.Â
At the time of this writing, the promotional fare of $129 per ticket each way is still in effect. Tucsonans flying the red-eye to New York can now enjoy the amenities which other cities have for years.
This comes from a press release on the JetBlue website.Â
“JetBlue’s signature “Shut-Eye” Service(tm), offered on the airline’s overnight flights from the West, will also be included on flights from Tucson to New York (JFK). Customers will receive an amenity kit designed exclusively for JetBlue by Bliss Spa, which includes an eye mask, ear plugs, Bliss’ lemon and sage body butter, and Bliss lip balm. In addition to these special amenities, customers will wake-up to freshly brewed Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and a “good morning” hot towel service.â€
