Homes in Tucson are selling for more!
Surprise, surprise, but Tucson, Arizona is definitely doing much better than the rest of the country at the top end luxury market.
At the end of October a new record was set for the highest priced home ever sold in Tucson. It is now set at $8 Million (including $1 Million in furnishing and art). The house is located right in the Catalina Foothills area, in one of its best subdivisions - Ventana Canyon Mountain Estates.
If you've never been in that area and you can afford those price tags - it is definitely something you might want to see. Hidden up top in the private Ventana Canyon Golf Club gated community, homes in Ventana Canyon Mountain Estates live up to the name - they offer panoramic views of the whole Tucson, straight to Mexico. Beneath them are the inviting greens of Ventana Canyon's two spectacular Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses.

My fiance and I are searching for a home in the catalina foothills area due to the award winning schools. We have a junior in high school and an 8th grader. Is this possible if our price range is $350-400K?

As real estate market cooled off around the country, it placed within reach of many people even such upscale areas like Catalina Foothills in Tucson, Arizona.
Today (07/15/08) Tucson MLS search shows that there are 8 homes in the Catalina Foothills school district with 4 bedrooms and 2 or more bathrooms priced below $400,000. The easiest way to see all those homes:
- go to http://www.FoothillsInsider.com
- click on "Search Luxury Homes"
- in the field "Search By MLS Number (optional)" copy and paste the following MLS numbers:
20814533, 20802327, 20822583, 20824315, 20821288, 20818517, 20743534, 20824113 .
You can also modify search, for example to include somewhat higher price range - up to $425,000 or so (in the current real estate market condition you have a good chance to negotiate price reduction) or include in search homes with 3BR + den.
